Meet the Teacher:
Martha Mabe is a contemporary impressionist artist working in Watercolor and Acrylic. She was born in Germany, but spent her childhood years in the countryside of South Carolina, which gave her a love of nature and the local flora and fauna. She now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and enjoys working in her home studio and traveling. Her travels have taken her to Italy and Greece where she was able to experience both the ancient and modern cultures of these areas evident in her work. In addition to these travels and experiences, her work has also been influenced by the local beauty of the lakes and surrounding mountains in North Carolina and Virginia.
While she is mostly self-taught, she has some formal training from the Holt School of Art, workshops and continuing training with other like-minded artist.
She fell in love with painting and drawing at a young age, but it took her many years before making it a priority in her life. Now that her children are grown, she has dedicated countless hours honing her skills in watercolors and acrylics. She has had a long-held desire to share her love of nature and of beautiful things through her works on canvas and watercolor paper in addition to holding beginner and advanced workshops.
